Casting A Live Action Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Movie
18. Izumi Curtis - Helena Bonham Carter
When it comes to the role of Izumi Curtis, the extremely aggressive, yet tragically physically impaired alchemy teacher of the Elric Brothers, you'll need an actress of some gravitas to take on the character. After all, she needs to be the sort of person that demands fear and respect from the duo.
When we think of female actresses who could really have fun with this role, Helena Bonham Carter comes to mind instantly. Whether or not she's playing cruel Harry Potter villain, Bellatrix Lestrange, or doing her best version of Queen Elizabeth in Academy award-winning movie, The King's Speech, Carter has been awesome in the vast majority of her performances.
We could absolutely see Bonham Carter whipping younger versions of the Elric Brothers into shape and being the stern teacher that made them who we are. However, she's also got the acting chops to be far more caring and kind when it's occasionally required and that will also be needed if certain moments from the show are used.
