Casting Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley: Every Rumoured Actor Ranked 

Despite starting his career appearing in a string of film adaptations of popular young-adult fiction novels, including John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars and Veronica Roth’s Divergent series, Ansel Elgort has managed to shake his stereotypical ‘nice guy’ type-casting with relative ease.

This was, of course, significantly helped by his starring role in Edgar Wright's 2017 action thriller Baby Driver, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

Although his recent filmography has included a few critical and commercial failures, including the infamous Billionaire Boys Club, given his upcoming role in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story remake, his career still looks to be on the rise.

Outside of acting, Elgort has performed as both a successful DJ, under the name of Ansølo, and as a rapper featuring on Logic's third studio album Everybody, so certainly has some musical experience.

However, despite all of these achievements, his capacity as a leading man is still somewhat untested. Even in Baby Driver, the support of other acting heavyweights proved invaluable.

Although it is easy to imagine Elgort taking command of such an iconic role in a few years, it just doesn't feel like now is the right time for him.
