Casting Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley: Every Rumoured Actor Ranked
2. Harry Styles
When attempting to cast one of the biggest heart-throbs of the 20th century, you could do far worse than casting one of the biggest teenage idols of the decade.
Whilst casting Harry Styles as Elvis Presley would be likely to produce a whole new level of controversy amongst fans of the musical icon, it could equally prove to be a genius decision.
After spending five years in the monumentally successful boyband One Direction, there is perhaps no other living actor with the same level of experience of the absolute pandemonium that worldwide stardom brings.
Given his experience, he would certainly know the music industry inside-out and the ability to bring this knowledge to the role could put him ahead of his competitors.
Although his filmography is pretty much non-existent, after his prominent role in Christopher Nolan's 2017 Dunkirk was widely lauded by critics, Styles certainly looks set for a future career in acting.
Of course, there is going to be a risk that a Styles-starring biopic could draw unfavourable comparisons to a low quality tribute act, but it could also create one of the most memorable music biopics in recent memory.
Given Nolan's success of casting Heath Ledger as The Joker in 2008's The Dark Knight, it is undeniable that he can spot acting potential, so it is not impossible that Luhrmann will follow his lead.
