Casting Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley: Every Rumoured Actor Ranked
1. Miles Teller
Despite beginning his career in the alcohol-fuelled comedies Project X and 21 & Over, following his breakout performance in Damien Chazelle’s Best Picture-nominated Whiplash, Miles Teller has quickly risen to be one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars.
Despite his rare misfire as Mr.Fantastic in Josh Trank's ill-fated 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, Teller has since gone on to make a name for himself in true-to-life biopics.
Whether it's appearing in Todd Phillips' dark comedy War Dogs or Ben Younger's boxing biopic Bleed for This, Teller clearly has the ability to adapt to almost all genres and has received near universal acclaim for his performances.
In addition, his casting in the lead role of Joseph Kosinski's upcoming Top Gun sequel has proved his ability and willingness to lead a highly anticipated Hollywood production.
Despite having the disadvantage of not being a natural musician like some of his competitors, he has previously proved himself to be prepared to gain the required musical abilities for a role - spending up to 4 hours a day practising drumming for Whiplash.
There is also the undeniable physical resemblance between Teller and a young Elvis Presley which, whilst having absolutely not bearing on his ability, will definitely help some to imagine him in the role.
Ultimately, given both his wealth of experience and well-established acting ability, Miles Teller is the obvious choice for Luhrmann to bring The King's story to Oscar-winning box-office glory.
