Cate Blanchett: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
4. Lady Marian Robin Hood (2010)
There's nobody who's going to defend this, is there? The outcry at a Blade Runner sequel without original director Ridley Scott might have been tempered somewhat if people remembered how long it had been since he made a good film. Before he returned to his other big sci-fi franchise with Alien prequel Prometheus, his last big blockbuster effort was yet another missed target. Who knows why you'd even bother making another Robin Hood film when Disney's animated one from the sixties is the best one, but maybe Sir Scott likes a challenge. Not that he's up to them if this turgid, po-faced and just plain tedious new take on the Nottinghamshire legend is anything to go by. Russell Crowe does his usually scowly, indeterminate accent thing as Robin Of Loxley, refusing to give his character any sort of personality besides grrr. Blanchett lost a bet or something so she was contractually obliged to play Maid Marian, and commits as much as original actress Sienna Miller was probably going to.
