Cats Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs

Ups...

3. It's Got Cult "Classic" Potential

The best future Cats can possibly hope for is enduring as a cult classic in the vein of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, albeit enjoyed with a greater degree of irony than that movie ever has been.

By any conventional filmmaking standard, Cats is an awful film, and yet, its inherent weirdness will ensure that it still wins its fair share of supporters.

This could very well give it a second life by the time it lands on home video, and don't be surprised if it becomes a regular on the midnight movie circuit within the next few years.

Needless to say, there are going to be a ton of fascinating retrospectives about the film's surely insane production in the years to come, and as bad as it is, few are likely to forget about it any time soon.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
