Chadwick Boseman: Every Movie Ranked Worst To Best
4. Da 5 Bloods (2020)
The last film released in his lifetime, Da 5 Bloods found Boseman in a compelling supporting role for Spike Lee's unconventional war drama. Despite having less screen time than his fans would perhaps have liked, the actor nonetheless holds his own against the impossibly good Delroy Lindo, and proves his worth as one the best dramatic actors of his generation.
Boseman stars as "Stormin'" Norman Holloway, the leader of a squad of Black US soldiers during the Vietnam War. Together with his squad - who are known as the Bloods - Norman steals some CIA gold and hides it within the battlefield. The rest of the film is dedicated the traumatised squad attempting to find the gold decades later.
In the role, Boseman is intense but sensitive, and offers a great amount of heart to counteract the film's lofty themes and emotional turmoil. He is one of the key reasons it's so great.
Da 5 Bloods is a daunting watch, but the actors make it work and its portrayal of PTSD and the experience of African-Americans in the war has to be seen to be believed.
