Charlize Theron: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked

2. Anna - A Million Ways To Die In The West (2014)

There's a very distinct possibility that A Million Ways To Die In The West was the most disappointing film of 2014. Yes it made money - twice its budget in fact (though hopefulyl that's not enough to make 2 Million Ways To Die In The West) - but the entire thing felt like a silly manchild remake of Blazing Saddles without any of the comic nuance or subtlety.

But then, Seth MacFarlane's name was above the saloon doors front and centre.

Theron is actually probably the best thing about the film, but it's mostly only because she doesn't get overly involved in the back-slapping smut or stupidity. She is restrained but you get the nagging sense that it's more down to boredom and not entirely feeling like she belongs than any conscious acting decision.

And unfortunately, her willingness to go along with MacFarlane's "side-splitting" dick, dumps and death jokes is just bad publicity.
