Chris Nolan's Dunkirk Trailer: 8 Reactions You Need To Know

5. Two Castaway Companies - The Non-Fiction Factor

Dunkirk Flight
Warner Bros.

After so many hallucinatory takes on theoretically possible issues, and one or two fanciful appendages, the British director has cemented his status as a cerebral fiction craftsman. His vein is all pronounced ellipsis, reality distortions, unseen details.

With that in mind, the question is what did he do with a historic event of such scope? Considering the realistic tone of the trailer, we could say he either stuck to a conventional narrative or somehow utilized his back-and-forth techniques to play with time and space.

We don’t know if he has something elaborate up his sleeve, or if this is going to be the first non-Nolanesque Nolan movie, but that could be as good as bad as trivial. These soldiers will have to wait a little longer, then.
