Chris Nolan's Movies Ranked Worst To Best

1. Memento

Memento was Christopher Nolan's first big film, and twenty years later it remains the strongest script out of all of the films he has delivered so far. Based on the short story Memento Mori by Jonathan Nolan, the backwards-travelling storyline is both a head scratcher and a fiercely intriguing mystery, heightened by the confusion of Guy Pearce's outstanding central performance.

It cannot be overstated: Memento is AMAZING. Rightfully selected by the United States Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry, this seemingly small film is a giant of Nolan's work.

Anchored by Pearce's Leonard, both Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano deliver compelling supporting performances to create a trio of gripping, if at many times unlikable, characters that you simply can't turn your eyes away from.

Pearce sells his memory loss, in a way that is both heartbreaking (remember Sammy Jankiss) and chilling, making him at all times easily manipulated and potentially the perfect serial killer, one with no memory of his crimes.

With such a canvass to work with, both Jonathan and Christopher Nolan have delivered what remains the greatest story they have collaborated on, with one of the smaller scale projects that they have completed.

Watch Memento. It really is that good.
