Chris Pratt: 10 Roles That Passed You By

2. Her

As with most Spike Jonze films, it's hard to describe Her in a way which can fully do it justice. Set in a near future it follows the romance between newly single Theodore Twombly and his A.I. operating system, Samantha. Like all the best science fiction concepts it uses the idea of technology to take a deeper look at ourselves. Further examining the idea of distant intimacy, it is no surprise that Pratt's character of Paul works with Theodore at Beautiful Handwritten Letters.com, a company which specialises in writing heartfelt letters on other people's behalf. It is here that Paul admires his writing, and compliments him on the fact that he's "part man and part woman, like there's an inner part that's woman." Imitation is also the sincerest form of flattery if his moustache is anything to go by. Together with his own girlfriend, the two even go on a double date with Theodore and Samantha, taking a picnic to the coast where they discuss vacations, and whether or not Tatiana's feet are as hot as Paul says they are. Another small role with only a handful of scenes, but one in which he gets to stretch his warm and homely comedy talents rather than play yet another caricature.
