As introductions go, a man surrounded by his four children but who recommends abortion is a memorable one. This is how we first meet Christ Pratt as Brett in Delivery Man however, as a lawyer who gave up(ish) his career to look after the kids who don't listen to him. Despite this he steps up to the plate once more in order to defend his best friend David, played by Vince Vaughn. Facing a lawsuit like no other, 142 of the 533 children he fathered through sperm donation challenge his right to anonymity by wanting to know where they come from. Seen throughout as the best friend offering advice, it has to be said that the role isn't entirely unique, and looking back at his previous films it is easy to see why Pratt was chosen for the part. That said, the courtroom setting is something new for him, and with leading man Vaughn's absence he takes to the centre stage perfectly. Although the remake generally gained negative comparisons to the original French-Candadian film Starbuck, it was a personal success for Pratt. Critics considered it to be "his funniest supporting performance yet", and released in 2013, it is a performance and reviews like this which undoubtedly helped Hollywood see his lead actor potential.
