Christopher Nolan: Everything We Know About His 2020 Film 'Tenet'

4. When To Expect A Trailer

Since Nolan's past July releases have also been big event films, there's a good chance that his new film will utilise a similar marketing campaign, at least in one or two areas. This might make it possible to predict when the first teaser trailer for the film will land, based on the pattern his previous films have followed.

Nolan's four major July releases all had teaser trailer release dates and film release dates as follows:

- The Dark Knight: Teaser Trailer: July 2007 | Release Date: July 2008

- Inception: Teaser Trailer: August 2009 | Release Date: July 2010

- The Dark Knight Rises: Teaser Trailer: July 2011 | Release Date: July 2012

- Dunkirk: Teaser Trailer: August 2016 | Release Date: July 2017

Looking at this information, a Nolan film released in July usually drops its first trailer around a year before the film itself. Warner Bros distributed the above four examples and they're distributing the 2020 project too, so if they follow this pattern, we should get our first look at the movie in July or August.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
