Christopher Nolan’s Atomic Bomb Movie: Every Detail You Need To Know

3. Nolan Wants "Some Degree" Of Theatrical Exclusivity

Whichever studio lands the Oppenheimer project, one thing that will have to be guaranteed is a theatrical-exclusive window. According to Variety, everyone who's bidding on the movie is noting that requirement.

Again, this doesn't necessarily rule out streaming services. Netflix is giving exclusive theatrical runs to a few of its upcoming movies, and in July, the company's chief, Scott Stuber, said he'd do "everything I can" to accommodate Nolan's next film.

Plus, the aforementioned, Apple-backed Killers Of The Flower Moon is also getting a theatrical release too, as per Deadline.

Streaming services want the prestige that these top-tier filmmakers give them, which is why many of them are open to theatrical windows, even though it technically goes against their business models. These windows typically run for 45 days, and Nolan certainly has the clout to demand that number.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
