Comic-Con 2019: 10 Biggest Reveals You Need To See

9. Cats' First Trailer Breaks The Internet

To a decidedly less enthusiastic audience response, Universal also released the first trailer for the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical Cats.

The trailer finally revealed the film's much buzzed-about use of CGI to transform a bevy of A-list actors and singers - including Judi Dench, Idris Elba, James Corden, Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson - into humanoid felines.

The results, unsurprisingly, are rather disturbing, and suggest that Tom Hooper's (The King's Speech, Les Miserables) film may be on course to deliver a misfire that roundly turns off audiences.

Naturally, Film Twitter - and all Twitter, basically - had fun ripping the trailer to shreds and posting the most outlandishly iffy images of CGI cat-people abominations. At least the sets look pretty good, right?

It's not a great start for a film that's already releasing the very same day as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 20). Is Cats' fate now sealed as 2019's Welcome to Marwen?
