6. Behind the Mask II: The Return of Leslie Vernon
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is one of the most beloved cult horror films of the last 20 years - a deliciously smart and funny mockumentary that peers back over its shoulder at the legacy of slasher films themselves.
Director Scott Glosserman and co-writer David J. Stieve have mentioned plans for a sequel many times over the years, though by 2017 Glosserman seemed to have cooled on his initial script, feeling that changes in the horror genre had made it feel dated.
That, combined with the dubious commercial success of the original film, seemed like the end of the road for Leslie Vernon.
But mere weeks ago, Variety confirmed that Behind the Mask II: The Return of Leslie Vernon is actually happening, with Glosserman and Stieve set to return behind the camera alongside original cast members Nathan Baesel, Angela Goethals and Robert Englund.
Though the film's production is guaranteed, the team is also launching a Kickstarter campaign which will allow them to expand the set-pieces, cameos, and so on.
