Despite Sam Raimi's superhero horror film Darkman succeeding at the box office and enduring as a cult classic to this very day, its only follow-ups were two direct-to-video sequels without the involvement of Raimi or star Liam Neeson.

Fans constantly ask Raimi about a legitimate Neeson-starring Darkman 2, and both filmmaker and actor expressed enthusiasm for a sequel back in 2022.

But earlier this year, Raimi confirmed that he wasn't merely blowing smoke, and that he's currently in the midst of attempting to get Darkman 2 made through his production company Ghost House Pictures.

Raimi further revealed that a script is already written and two "great directors" are in place, though it's ultimately a matter of finding the financing to get the film made, as it is ever is.

Beyond this the production still needs to secure Neeson of course, without which most enthusiasm for it will surely evaporate. But in the least it seems like things are finally moving in the right direction.
