Greyhound is one of the many films that quickly came and went during the pandemic maelstrom of 2020.
The Tom Hanks-starring war movie had its theatrical release swiftly cancelled as cinemas were closed, ultimately releasing to decent-if-unremarkable reviews on Apple TV+.
Greyhound was enough of a streaming hit for Apple that a sequel was officially in development by 2022, yet in the years that followed things went basically radio silent.
But in early 2026, it was unexpectedly announced that Greyhound 2 was indeed now in production, with Tom Hanks, Stephen Graham, Elisabeth Shue, and Rob Morgan reprising their roles, while Aaron Schneider directs once again, with the script being written by Hanks himself this time around.
It would've surprised roughly nobody if Greyhound came and went without a peep, but evidently its popularity as a Dad Movie literally starring America's Dad, Tom Hanks, made it impossible for Apple to ignore the stratospheric numbers.
