20 Horror Movie Scenes They Were FORCED To Cut

6. Audrey II Takes Over The World - Little Shop of Horrors

The 1986 adaptation of beloved horror-comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors was intended to end in a manner similar to the source material, as huge man-eating plant Audrey II consumes both Audrey (Ellen Greene) and Seymour (Rick Moranis) before embarking on a worldwide rampage with an army of plants.

It's hardly a shock that test audiences weren't massively enthused by this bummer of an ending, but even so, Frank Oz said the reaction was so overwhelmingly hostile that he was left with no choice but to shoot a new ending if he wanted the film to be released.

And so, the original 23-minute, $5 million ending was tossed out completely, with a new ending being shot where Audrey and Seymour both survive and manage to defeat Audrey II.

Somewhat ironically, Little Shop of Horrors underperformed at the box office, but in 2012 Warner Bros. restored the original ending for the Director's Cut Blu-ray release, finally allowing fans to witness the unhinged original ending for themselves.

And boy, it sure is a doozy alright.
