20 Horror Movie Scenes They Were FORCED To Cut

7. The Full Blood Orgy - Event Horizon

Event Horizon doesn't exactly seem like a film that holds much back, but during production Paul W.S. Anderson shot way more explicit material that was deemed too extreme for human consumption.

This pertains largely to the video log of the Event Horizon's ill-fated crew taking part in a so-called "blood orgy."

In the final film we only see about 10 seconds of the video, which implies a whole lot of sexual violence, but Anderson shot a far more elaborate and prolonged sequence which he was ultimately forced to cut.

The original version of the scene was a lengthy montage of sexual violence and murder, with amputee performers being hired to play mutilated crew members while porn actors were drafted in for the sexual moments.

Star Jason Isaacs more recently remarked that some of the content was "definitely illegal to do now," and so it's little surprise that Paramount forced Anderson to cut it down to ensure an R rating.

While there are many fans who would love to see Anderson's unrestrained original vision, because the film negatives spent decades festering in a Transylvanian salt mine and are now unusable, that sadly seems unlikely to ever happen.
