D.J Caruso to Direct Sci-Fi Tale Invertigo

D.J Caruso has signed on to direct Invertigo, a large scale science fiction tale, which is now on the fast tack for production.

I always look forward to a good sci-fi disaster movie. They€™re fun, cheesy and the science is definitely more of the fiction variety than any of the more plausible kind and this new announcement from Deadline today is welcome for anyone else who are fans of this type of fun, wholesome destructiveness. Deadline reports that D.J Caruso has signed on to direct €˜Invertigo€™ , a large scale science fiction tale first bought by Sony as a spec from Ehren Kruger (€˜Transformers: Dark of the Moon€™) and Brandon Camp and is now on the fast tack for production. With uber producer Neal Mortiz on board, the film tells the story of a NASA satellite that crash lands in New York creating something called a "reverse G-vortex" that is no doubt explained by some geeky/wizened/ridiculously good looking scientist figure in some highly implausible expository scene using very big scientific words, which causes the Earth€™s gravitational pull to be reversed. Caruso€™s last foray into science fiction was the widely panned €˜I Am Number Four€™ which didn€™t exactly work out to well for anyone involved. Meanwhile Caruso has been busy putting the finishing touches to his low budget passion project €˜Goat Island€™ and is currently looking for distributors. Where this leaves Columbia's 'Preacher' adaptation, which Caruso was also set to direct, is anyone's guess as 'Invertigo' is going to demand some serious prep and production time so it looks as if we'll just have to wait a little longer for Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy to grace our screens.
