Daddy's Home 2 Review: 3 Ups & 6 Downs
4. Hannibal Buress Isn't In It
The easily highlight of the first movie was the supporting role of Griff, Dusty's layabout handyman pal played by a terrifically wise-cracking Hannibal Buress.
Buress was the original film's saving grace, its only subversive element as he sarcastically commented on the actions of Dusty and Brad, delivered in his typical deadpan tone of course.
That Buress is completely absent from the sequel is a strike against it from the outset. No matter how desperately he would've had to be written into Dusty and Brad's planned "together Christmas", it totally would've been worth it.
Hell, the movie could've even drawn attention to how weird and unnecessary Griff's presence would be. Anything to justify him showing up, basically, but sadly no dice.
