Danny Boyle's Films Ranked From Worst To Best

5. 28 Days Later (2002)

One of the most intense and cerebral zombie movies ever made, 28 Days Later benefits from its low-budget construction, allowing Boyle to get unprecedented coverage of central London and also giving the film a more convincing, "lived-in" feel.

Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris and Christopher Eccleston are excellent as three of the survivors, and Alex Garland's script ensures to avoid many of the genre's cliches, while making the rage-infected more mobile than mere shambling zombies ups the ante significantly from most similar films.

It is a film full of ugly, unpleasant moments (that eye gouge, though), and Boyle makes us feel every one, while also keenly examining the humanity of the film's dubious heroes and villains.

And we're still keeping our fingers crossed that he might get around to 28 Months Later one day.
