Danny Boyle's Films Ranked From Worst To Best

Boyle has a knack for bringing out the best in actors, and honestly, did anyone really think James Franco had this in him?

The most uplifting movie ever made about a man cutting his own arm off, 127 Hours may deal with a grim series of events, but it's ultimately a poem to human perseverance and the instinct to survive against all odds.

Franco is fantastic and he absolutely has to be considering he's the only character in many of the movie's scenes, and Boyle smartly supplements the focal story with well-placed flashbacks that emphasise the protagonist's struggle.

Anthony Dod Mantle and Enrique Chediak's eye-wateringly beautiful cinematography was criminally snubbed for an Oscar nomination in 2011, and perplexingly, Boyle himself also missed out on a Best Director nod (though perhaps his helming here was a little too hyperactive for some tastes).
