Danny Boyle: Ranking His Films From Worst To Best

4. 28 Days Later (2002)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eunaclr-WgU Many will refer to 28 Days Later as a zombie film, and though it technically isn't, it certainly follows a similar schematic; a plague ravishes London, and the survivors, chiefly Cillian Murphy and Naomi Harris have to contend with the rage-infected husks that remain. However, they don't shamble and grunt like zombies; they run extremely fast and will cut you down in the blink of an eye. With this minor plot affectation, Boyle crafts a sublimely entertaining, thrilling, disturbing film that makes the best of its shoestring budget and - at the time - mostly unknown cast. Convincingly depicting London as a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Boyle's bleak horror spawned a surprisingly good sequel, 28 Weeks Later, that he didn't direct - though did executive produce - with a third film, 28 Months Later, apparently on the way soon.
