DC Extended Universe: 10 Post-Justice League Predictions

1. Shazam Will Bomb

Batman The Killing Joke

Superhero movies don't usually bomb. Even the most reviled ones are generally critic-proof, but David F. Sandberg's Shazam is at risk of going down like Superman after a Kryptonite bullet to the head.

There are many reasons why Billy Batson fans should be worried about this film, one being that DC doesn't promote his comic books nearly enough.

Another is reports that its tone will be light-hearted and fun. Although this is certainly the right fit for Shazam, it will be jarring against the grit and darkness of the wider DC Extended Universe.

In a further blow to the film, The Rock's Black Adam is longer featuring as previously announced. He's being held back for his own solo movie, which is a shame because his name on the credits alone would have put backsides on cinema seats.

It sounds like Sandberg intends to tell an origin story with Shazam, which is fair enough given that he's not as mainstream as Batman and Superman, but these tales of heroes in the making are becoming tired all the same.

The year 2019 will see two Captain Marvels going head to head at the box office, and the Marvel Studios version is the one who is odds-on to come out on top.
