DC Extended Universe: 5 Best & 5 Worst Characters Introduced In 2016
2. Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad)
Ahead of Suicide Squad's release, it's hard to deny that Harley Quinn was the character many were most excited to see, even with the fact that the Joker was also in the film. Over the last 25 years since her introduction on Batman: The Animated Series and subsequent solidification in Batman lore, the character's popularity has only continued to rise, and a live-action cinematic interpretation of the character was not just a dream but an inevitability.
Despite Suicide Squad's regrettable decision to downplay the physically and psychologically abusive relationship between Harley and her puddin' that has defined their dynamic since the beginning, which would've been something unique to see in a big budget comic book movie and serviced a larger arc for Harley in which she finds the power to break out of it, Margot Robbie did a pretty solid job in bringing the character's charms and quirks to life for the first time on the big screen, clearly relishing every second of screentime bestowed upon her.
Loaded with a wealth of personality, Suicide Squad's most colorful character shined the brightest throughout its runtime, giving fans a pretty solid interpretation to be happy with, her introduction undoubtedly kicking off a long chain of appearances throughout the DCEU for years to come.
