DC Extended Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation
5. Batman
Release Date: TBA
It's absolutely no surprise that Warner Bros. and DC are eager to get Batman on the big screen as many times as they can. He's undoubtedly their biggest draw, still riding high on a legacy that has lasted for over 75 years. Next year, they'll not only be introducing audiences to Ben Affleck as the character in Batman V Superman, but also having him pop up in Suicide Squad as well.
Whether you loved the more grounded approach of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, the twisted funhouse nature of Tim Burton's two films or even the camp of Adam West's days as the character, it's impossible to deny that Batman's live-action potential is still strong. Though everyone remembers the uproar about Affleck being cast, the BvS trailer proved that he might just knock it out of the park - similar to how Heath Ledger overcame the naysayers back in 2008 - and ensure that his take will be one that fans will want to spend as much time with before time inevitably leads to someone new taking up the mantle.
A Batman solo film has been confirmed, with Affleck set to write it alongside comic vet Geoff Johns, and potentially direct it too, but when it will be slotted in the DCEU's roster of films is anybody's guess, but it's pretty much certain that Warner and DC will find room for his solo film sometime before 2020 to really capitalise on the arrival of a new take on the Caped Crusader, one that will hopefully really dive into how twisted his world can be and focus on emphasising his detective skills.
