DC Extended Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming Project By Anticipation

4. Green Lantern Corps

DC Cinematic Universe
DC Comics

Release Date: June 19th, 2020

Green Lantern in all his incarnations - Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Alan Scott, etc. - has earned a legion of well-deserved fans over the last 75 years since he first debuted. Unfortunately, though, when the character made the leap to the big screen back in 2011, giving the mainstream their first major exposure to Hal Jordan, it took a hit when the film failed to take off.

Despite a few positives, like Mark Strong's Sinestro, the film was weighed down by too many negatives, failing to capitalise on the character's massive creative potential and leaving comic and non-comic fans alike with a sour taste in their mouths. Flash forward several years and Warner Bros. and DC are now trying again, this time launching a 2020 reboot in what will be by then an already established universe that can move the DCEU's scope well and truly beyond Earth.

Being the furthest film out in the DCEU slate, we know absolutely nothing about it beyond the fact that Tyrese Gibson - who has long been vying for the role - has been in talks about it. Whether any version of the character turns up in the DCEU before the film is anyone's guess, but in terms of what it could do to make up for the 2011 failure and the sheer spectacle just waiting to be tapped, Green Lantern Corps could easily be one of the DCEU's most epic, entertaining and visually stunning entries.
