DC Movie Universe: 4 Ways Booster Gold Could Be DC's Iron Man

1. A Funny, Charming Rogue

Boostergoldfanclub There's no doubt that some of the biggest things that make Marvel's Iron Man films so successful are Tony Stark's humor, wit, and biting sarcasm. The Marvel films are constantly lauded as being more fun than DC's, though I guess that's all subjective. DC already tried making a more Marvel-esque film with Green Lantern, which we all know was a pretty abysmal attempt. I contend that they shouldn't give up on the lighter tone, but simply examine the possibility that maybe they tried it with the wrong character. One of Booster's most important ( and frequently overlooked) strengths is his charisma. As a glory seeker he's got a bit of a narcissistic streak, and hams it up for his fans. Booster isn't a saint by any stretch of the imagination. In the beginning, he has no qualms with franchising the name Booster Gold in order to become rich and famous. Over time he learns to become a real hero, which is a character arch that we haven't necessarily seen yet on the silver screen. If DC could pull off this charisma by still utilizing the attributes I've already outlined, they could have a hit on their hands and a welcome addition to the more grim, dark, and gritty characters that make up the Justice League's roster. So there we have it! Four ways DC could find success with Booster Gold, a second (or even third) tier character with loads of untapped potential. Supposedly there's a TV show for the character in the works over at SyFy, but my guess is that's not going to happen anytime soon (if ever). What do you think of Booster Gold? Could he be DC's Iron Man? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to follow me on Twitter @JimLovesMovies for more!
