DC: Ranking Every Upcoming Movie & TV Show By Anticipation

4. The LEGO Batman Movie

DC Movies TV Justice League Flash Arrow
Warner Bros.

One of the most purely joyful cinema experiences in the last couple of years was also one of the most unexpected. The LEGO Movie was a ridiculous idea, but Chris Miller and Phil Lord (who else could've done it?) managed to turn it into a film that was utterly hilarious, endlessly entertaining, and surprisingly thoughtful.

A highlight of that movie was Batman, voiced by Will Arnett, and now he's getting his own film. It doesn't have Miller and Lord writing or directing, but they're still involved, and left the movie in the hands of LEGO Movie collaborator Chris McKay. The plot will see Batman go on "a personal journey to find himself and learn the importance of teamwork in hopes to save Gotham City from The Joker's hostile takeover."

Every look at the film so far has suggested they've managed to perfectly recapture the magic of The LEGO Movie, while distilling it into a solo Batman movie, with a huge number of references and homages expected. The voice cast is great, including Zach Galifianakis as The Joker and Michael Cera as Robin, the animation is on-point, and it looks like being one of the most enjoyable films of 2017.

Release Date: February 10, 2017.
