DCEU'S Nightwing Movie: 10 Mistakes It Must Avoid
5. Making It Exposition-Heavy
One other thing any Wing-themed flick will have to shy away from is any attempt to provide a history lesson to mainstream audiences, chronicling moments throughout Dick's life that would be better left unheard or better yet alluded to.
Dick Grayson isn't an unknown character - everyone knows him as the first Robin and as one of Batman's staunchest allies. The whole Nightwing thing is bound to raise a few eyebrows, in that only the hardcore Bat-fans will recognise the title, but that's what the film is for, surely. People love to dismiss a good origin story but, in Dick's case at least, it's kind of necessary.
Cutting out the waffle and getting to the character's time in Blüdhaven will be important, particularly if it does depict Grayson's formative years under the new identity, but we needn't have to sit through a recap of the character's time running up to the event.
The odd allusion here and there is fine, but there's every chance that there'll be a temptation on WB's behalf to explain every aspect of the character's history to ensure nothing gets lost in translation. Too much of it will bog the film down, and if the feature does end up boasting a litany of Bat-ties, then things could come apart very quickly.
