Any Bat-fan will know that Dick Grayson is a bit of a joker. Not like the clown or anything, but y'know, he's partial to the odd quip now and then.
And while the character's tenure as Nightwing was marked by a more mature persona, he wasn't entirely devoid of those humorous traits. In light of this, it's important to remember that the DCU has opted to shirk the lighter elements of its source material on more than one occasion.
Ezra Miller's Barry Allen looks to be bringing the funnies in Justice League, and Jason Momoa's doing the same with Aquaman, so there's a newly established precedent for comedy in DC's films, even if it's difficult to shake the feeling that it'll be taking a back seat once more.
This comes in spite of the fact that McKay's been involved in two of the funniest comedies of the last few years as well. It's clear he has an eye for comedy, so it would be majorly upsetting to see that element of the character take a backseat once more.
