4. Cunningham Is Worm

The Weapon X program doesn't feature as many mutants as it did in Wolverine; Pool, Ajax, Angel Dust, a background character who is most likely Marrow, and that's about it. Well, there is Cunningham, the other subject getting tortured alongside Wade, but his name doesn't have any strong comic book link (a couple of throwaway characters have that surname, but nobody warranting a reference here). Cunningham is in fact a parallel to Worm, a character introduced by Joe Kelly as one of Deadpool's fellow victims at the hands Dr Killebrew. Although in the movie Killebrew is replaced by Ajax and Worm doesn't have full cybernetic implants, only an engorged eye, his inclusion here serves as acknowledgement of that story's impact on the film.
