Deadpool: 10 Obscure References You Probably Missed

3. The Forgotten Gun Bag

Just before the big final fight, Deadpool gears up for action, strutting along to X Gon' Give It To Ya, only to realise he's left all of his guns in Dopinder's car. Now you may think this is simply a way for the film to have its tooling up cake without having to gorge with, or perhaps a sly nod towards comic Deadpool's unlimited ammo in the comics, but it's actually a little in-joke on behalf of the screenwriters. The original script for Deadpool featured a big gun fight at the end, but when the filmmakers were told they needed to shave $7 million off the proposed budget if they were going to be approved for an R-rating, it had to be exorcised in favour of a cheaper sword clash. Although no one would get it without reading up on the production - mainly because it's funny by itself - they threw in the gun bag gag as consolation.
