Deadpool: 100 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References

39. Revenge Reversal

The movie's main plot deals with Deadpool enacting revenge on all those involved in Weapon X and hunting down Francis, which is a pretty direct parallel to the characters' relationship in the comics, except the roles are reversed; early on in the original Deadpool comic, Francis was a vengeful subject who returned years later with a new title slowly picking off those who wronged him and building up to Pool. This character alteration is directly referenced when, at the start, Ajax is derogatorily called a mutant by his boss, despite never being one originally.

38. The Deadpool Rap

When Deadpool: The Game was released, video game rappers TEAMHEADKICK made a very special song to honour the Merc with a Mouth. The Deadpool Rap proved so popular, that it (or rather, a slightly retooled version, still by THK) makes a full appearance in the film - it plays over the origin montage (gotta have one of those).

37. Storm Shadow

Although it doesn't take long for Deadpool to wind up in his red-and-black threads, the first version of his costume is a little different - an all white ensemble with goggles. Not only does this provide an origin to his earlier comments about not being able to see him bleed with a red suit, this appears to be a stylistic nod to G.I. Joe's Storm Shadow. Weird, right?

36. The Batman & Robin Gay Gag

If you're making a subversive superhero flick, you gotta have a joke at the expense of Batman's relationship with his Boy Wonder. When introducing Blind Al, Deadpool describes her as his Robin, only old, black, blind, and in love with him, before rescinding the final point, a nod to the long-standing homoerotic undertones to the characters (especially in the previously referenced Adam West series).
