Deadpool 2: 10 Reasons Cable Will Be Awesome

5. ...And Maybe Explain The Dodgy Continuity Of The Franchise

For hardened film fans, nothing rankles more than a continuity error, and The X-Men franchise has more of these than any other superhero franchise. Deadpool himself pointed this out in his first movie, when asking if Professor X looks like James McAvoy or Patrick Stewart at the moment. He€™s got a point: it is nigh on impossible to piece the dodgy continuity of Fox€™s mutant movies together. Maybe Cable could help. Fox has already tried to fix its wibbly-wobbly timeline once before, with the universe-resetting events of Days Of Future Past. There are still questions, though, like €˜is any of X-Men Origins: Wolverine still canon?€™ and, if so, €˜How come there was there another Ryan Reynolds-looking Wade Wilson during the Vietnam War era? And what happened to him?!€™ If the studio ever wants to tackle these Deadpool continuity inconsistencies head-on, it€™ll be easier to do it with the help of a time-traveller like Cable. In the comics, Cable spends a lot of his time trying to stop a possible future - where Apocalypse rules the world - from ever becoming real. This idea could come in handy for Fox€ Perhaps, Cable could explain to Deadpool that there are loads of different timelines at play in the universe at any given time, thereby reconciling the fact that Ryan Reynolds has played two completely different versions of the same character in the same film franchise. At the very least, this would help hardcore fans sleep at night.
