You could argue that the X-Men film franchise could do with a few fresh villain ideas. At this point, weve seen three different actors play William Stryker and shed-loads of plotlines based around experimentation on mutants. Going forward, especially once Apocalypse is out of the picture, Fox will need to bring in some threats that arent shady scientists. Thanks to Cable, one big new villainous possibility is brought to the table clones. Besides Apocalypse, one of Cables biggest adversaries is Stryfe his own evil clone, which his sister Rachel had made when she thought Cable was going to die from his techno-organic virus. Apocalypse got his hands on Stryfe, and eyed him up as his evildoing successor. Stryfe could make a great movie villain, not least because he has a roster of cool superpowers (such as telepathy and telekinesis) to match Cable. Hes also arrogant and cruel, which contrasts nicely with Cables righteousness. And, in terms of the future of the X-Men franchise at large, introducing cloning could allow for some unique new stories. Once clones are shown to exist in this world, would anyone be able to trust anyone else? Theres certainly story potential in that idea, possibly even enough to anchor a big ensemble movie.
