Deadpool 2: 102 Easter Eggs, Gags & References Explained
66. The Most Self-Aware Reference
As the news of Russell's attack on Essex House is reported on the news, the ticker on the bottom of the screen carries a headline reading "Christopher Plummer refuses role in Deadpool 2" as an obvious refernece to the controversy surrounding TJ Miller's invovlement in the movie and the producers' decision not to replace him.
Why Plummer? Well, because he replaced Kevin Spacey in All The Money In The World in fairly similar circumstances.
65. Kid Apocalypse
This might seem like a mostly original story with familiar elements from the comics, the idea of Deadpool wanting to protect an innocent child who could grow up to be a dangerous villain is clearly inspired by the Uncanny X-Force comics, in which the team's first mission was to assassinate Apocalypse who was reborn in the form of a child.
64. Robocop
When faced with Russell's rampage against the school and his resistance to the X-Men, Colossus says "Come quiet or there will be trouble", which both Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Deadpool both proclaim he ripped off from RoboCop (albeit with the -ly dropped from "quietly" to "Russian it up.")
