63. Essex House

The school that Russell is a student/prisoner at is called Essex House, which is clearly a subtle reference to Nathaniel Essex - otherwise known as Mr Sinister - the villain who has been hinted at several times already.

The evangelical anti-mutant message of the school is pretty much also taken from the comic version of William Stryker, who believed mutants were the work of the devil.

62. The Ice Box

After he kills the headmaster's creepy sidekick and tries to shoot the headmaster himself, Deadpool ends up sent to mutant prison, The Ice Box.

It's a name comics fans may be familiar with as it's Canada's main superhuman prison, specially designed to hold powered individuals, much like the MCU's Raft.

61. Les Mis

Russell ends up at the Ice Box as well - as Wade's cell-mate in fact - and in a pleasant little touch, his prison number is 24601, the same as Jean Valjean's in Les Miserables. Ryan Reynolds really does have a thing for Hugh Jackman.
