Deadpool 2: 8 Most Memorable New Characters

5. The Headmaster

Eddie Marsan's character in Deadpool 2 has been completely shrouded in secrecy throughout the movie's progression to the big screen. Now that the movie is in cinemas, the wrapping can be torn off to reveal The Headmaster, who presides over a boarding school designed to teach young mutants to suppress their abilities.

The Headmaster's methods are utterly horrific, subjecting mutants including Julian Dennison's Russell to torture and pain in order to teach them to hide their super-powers from the world. Marsan's character is a mad fundamentalist who believes that mutants are an aberration and a danger to society. In response to that, he tries to protect the genetic purity of humanity, while forcing mutants to conform with regular society.

Anyone who has seen Paddy Considine's horrifying drama Tyrannosaur will know the potential that Marsan has to be an incredibly unsettling bad guy. He's the closest thing to a clear, unambiguous villain that Deadpool 2 has in its arsenal and, for that reason, he definitely sticks in the memory after the credits roll. It's another excellent part for Marsan, who is one of the best British character actors working today.
