Deadpool 2: Everything We Know So Far

1. The Movie Will Be Small-Scale, Like The First

After the success of the original movie, there was some concern that the filmmakers would want to go bigger and bolder with the sequel, with a mammoth budget, explosions galore and a whole host of gigantic set-pieces.

Not that there's anything wrong with a larger scale, but Deadpool's modest budget forced the director and writers to get creative with their limited resources, rather than simply being able to splurge the cash without a second thought.

If this was a concern of yours, then fear not; Deadpool 2 will not be going all destructive, with a blue sky-beam and world-ending threat in its third act.

Speaking to Collider, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said that they "don’t want $150 million to go make the next movie", because "that’s not Deadpool."

"Deadpool doesn’t lift cities up into the air or battle aliens coming down to earth", they continued. "So we’re happy in that little small budget range that they have us in; we don’t wanna blow this next one out.”

The news that the sequel will retain that grounded, street-level feel is great to hear, since Deadpool's smaller scale - and therefore, its ability to make fun of its bigger cousins - was part of its charm.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
