Deadpool 2 Trailer Reactions: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

4. Welcome To Disney

There was probably a MASSIVE temptation from whoever is currently manning the marketing desk at what remains of Fox's movie department to lampoon Disney horribly. After all, the comparatively sanitised MCU is not the sort of material 'Pool would typically mesh well with, and he has precedent with firing barbs at his own paymasters.

But the trailer is remarkably reserved on that front and it's the right approach. That way, it doesn't become too much of a distraction when we need space for story. Let Ryan Reynolds have that sort of fun on Twitter, but the trailer is not the right platform.

As it is, we get a lovingly crafted Toy Story reference and one little Avengers reference (there's also an Infinity poster in the psych ward we see being infiltrated by Domino at one point), and it's the right approach. Not least because it means Disney might be less likely to cancel the series entirely over concerns about its R-Rating.
