So in case it's not been made clear yet, Deadpool is going to be quite different from the previous X-Men films. In tone, cast, and the target audience along with having a main character that murders without a second thought and frequently calls into question the nature of reality, it's also going to involve abused sidekicks and mental illness. And a main character who shares her name with PCP. Angel Dust is another character who, in the comics, has no connection to Deadpool. But in the film she's going to be played by Gina Carano, the badass MMA fighter who appeared as one of the titular American Gladiators in the show's 2008 reboot and whom Steve Soderbergh wrote a whole film for her to star in with Haywire. And Carano's physical prowess will come in handy whilst playing Christine, who took the dubious name of Angel Dust when he mutant abilities began to manifest and she went to join the Morlocks, a mutant colony who live in the sewers because, er, they don't have the mutant abilities of smell, apparently. Her increased strength comes from being able to control her adrenaline. Makes sense...?
