Deadpool: Everything You Need To Know

5. TJ Miller Is Weasel

TJ Miller is the most prolific and varied movie star you've never heard of. An endlessly inventive stand-up who put out a forty-track comedy rap EP and managed to avoid dying from a rare type of brain disease, he's best known as the guy behind the camera in Cloverfield (whose face you never really see), Ranger Jones in that terrible Yogi Bear film (a part he got by auditioning with a real bear), and most recently he's been part of the ensemble of HBO tech comedy Silicon Valley. Apparently Miller's so busy that he may very well have already finished filming for Deadpool, where he's apparently playing Jack Hammer, better known as Weasel €“ Wade Wilson's long-suffering sidekick. His origin in the comics is way to complicated to be replicated in the film, involving as it does time travel and a surprising amount of Spider-Man characters (whom Fox don't own the rights to). So don't expect Hammer to have a crush on Gwen Stacy and work for Norman Osborn, but do expect him to be victim to Deadpool's violent mood swings. It sounds a lot like the relationship between Nathan Barley and his second-in-command Pingu from that cult Channel 4 sitcom. Weasel is super smart, makes all of Deadpool's gadgets, and is slightly off-kilter and manipulative. Fun!
