The tireless petitioning of star Ryan Reynolds is at least one reason why the Deadpool film is getting made. Another might be the leaked test footage that Reynolds and special effects bod Tim Miller put together a few years ago, totally off their own backs, as an attempt to sell the idea to the execs at Fox. Apparently they weren't convinced. Then, somewhat mysteriously, that footage leaked online. Fans were super stoked, then annoyed the film was apparently not going to get made. Soon after the leak and overwhelmingly positive response, Fox flip-flopped on their decision and now, Deadpool is scheduled for release on February 12, 2016. And apparently that test footage wasn't just a calling card it's going to be part of the film too. That short clip was a context-less action scene with a fully CGI Deadpool jumping a car full of suited killers, offing them all whilst quipping to the camera. In the actual film, Reynolds will be in costume and playing the character properly (not just voicing), so they can't just reuse that old footage plus they have to incorporate it into the story. So according to set reports they're refilming the sequence.
