Denzel Washington has A JOURNAL FOR JORDAN

Reservation Road scribe is writing the true story of Charles M. King, a soldier in Iraq who left his 7 month old son a 200 page journal in case he wouldn't return. Washington is set to lead.

Rope of Silicon but I was too busy watching Broken Arrow to write about it and that I would just post it today when the rest of the world caught up. So I wake up today, and too my absolute shock no-one is talking about this. I mean Denzel's a pretty huge star right? When he agrees to do a movie it should be big news. Reservation Road writer and novelist John Burnham Schwartz has revealed that he is writing a script for Denzel Washington based on the article "From Father to Son, Last Words to Live By" written by New York Times columnist Dana Canedy.

The movie is currently titled A Journal for Jordan and is based on the true story of Canedy's husband, Charles M. King, who was a soldier in Iraq and was killed last year leaving behind a 7-month-old son and a 200-page journal in the case that he would not be able to raise him. Denzel will play the soldier and will reportedly produce the project.

It's yet another 'war on terror' movie which audiences don't seem all that interested in seeing. We have yet to see one hit the top of the box office yet this year, with The Kingdom most recently coming second to The Game Plan. Studio's will soon turn off the idea of financing these flicks but with the promise of Denzel, I don't think this one will have any trouble. This sounds like a tear-jerker of a story and has the potential of being the type of material that wins Oscars. We'll keep an eye on this one.
