One of the most controversial scenes in the movie - albeit for entirely different reasons - concerns Tarantino's ill-judged cameo as an Australian mining company worker, complete with awful Tarantino acting and awful Tarantino Australian accent. But the filmmaker revealed during one particular interview that this role wasn't originally written for him: it was originally written as a larger part with an unknown actor in mind, though it was later cut down when Tarantino felt it was no longer right for the person he had in mind.
