Doctor Strange: 10 Reasons It's Awesome

4. It Knows How Silly It Is

With its almost indescribably epic scope, spanning time and dimensions, it would be incredibly easy for the movie to get caught up in the self-seriousness of its own world, but in typical Marvel fashion, it totally knows how ridiculous it is.

After the Ancient One sends him on his first mind-trip across the universe, Strange even tells her, "This doesn't make any sense", perfectly reflecting the audience's own mindset.

Rather than try to explain every last logical nook and cranny with convoluted exposition, the Ancient One instead simply asserts that not everything needs to make 100% clear sense, and given the weird and wonderfully imaginative world that's been crafted here, that's absolutely fine.

There's definitely potential for that ethos to become shakier once Strange joins the core MCU, but for now, it totally does the trick.
