Doctor Strange: 31 Easter Eggs & References You Must See
30. The Iron Man 2 Reference
While driving to the conference after what proves to be his final operation and just before he plunges spectacularly into the river, Strange discusses interesting cases he can take on next. He rejects an elderly woman to preserve his record (douchebag) and is also told about a young woman with schizophrenia and an inhibitor chip who was struck by lightning.
Neither of those are particularly interesting, though the brain implant sounds like it should be (and two female Marvel characters - Lodestone and Nebula have had implants to either control or enhance them). But he also mentions a "35 year old Marine Colonel, crushed his lower spine in some kind of experimental armor."
No, that's not Rhodey in Civil War: the age isn't right at all. And War Machine isn't really experimental at that stage. What it actually refers to is the soldiers testing Justin Hammer’s bootleg rip-off suits who gets his spine twisted. We learn of that in Iron Man 2's court room scene (you're forgiven for not remembering, the film wasn't that good).
That's the second mention of Hammer this year after Luke Cage. Maybe he is coming back?
